On October 8th, Mtl inc. invited 80 start-up for a full day of activities and speeches to learn everything to know about startup financing.
About fifty speakers were present to answer questions and share their best advice: successful entrepreneurs, bankers, VCs, Family Offices, support organizations.

The day began with an inspiring interview with Kyle Boulay of Bus.com who recently completed his third round of $ 20 million financing. Without filter, Kyle unveiled his tips and secrets for a successful financing search.

Montréal inc. presented the Financing cartography, created in collaboration with Fundica and the National Bank, during which the participants had a general overview of the main themes of financing discussed during the day.

Also throughout the day the participants discovered all the main sources of financing thanks to high level speakers.

The subjects of loans, grants, competitions and subventions were addressed during panels composed of several organisations (ACCLR, Canada Economic Development, LOJIQ, Ministry of Economy and Innovation, QuebecInnove, Futurpreneur, PME MTL, Mtl Inc., BDC and Femmessor).

Peer-to-peer was at the center of the day: 3 Laureates Mtl inc. (Intellisports, Nüvü Camera and GoRendez-vous) gave their advice on how to develop and maintain their relationships with their financiers and 5 other Laureates (Silofit, Locketgo, Vention, From Rachel, Mechasys) participated in a panel discussing investors.

After these inspiring talks, participants were able to take part in discussion groups on different themes, led by Mtl inc. advisors and two successful Laureates.

Then took place an exceptional panel on Family Offices with Eric Phaneuf (Walter Capital Partners), Philippe Nadeau (Distinction Capital) and Ludovic Dumas (Claridge). They demystified the fascinating world of these Quebec investors.

Venture capital was also addressed during the last two activities: an exclusive presentation on how Anges Québec measures the value of a company by Geneviève Morin (Anges Québec Capital), and a “VC reverse pitch” by 4 VC (Isaac Souweine of Real Ventures, Raphael Christian-Roy of Front Row Ventures, David Dufresne of Panache Ventures, Jacques Perreault of Brightspark). They all responded transparently to the questions of the 80 entrepreneurs.

The day ended in style at the 5@8 networking where nearly thirty organizations were present to meet the entrepreneurs and answer their questions. It was an excellent opportunity to make business connections and we cannot wait to hear the results!
