MONTRÉAL, January 12, 2021 – The Mtl inc. program dedicated exclusively to women who want to start a business returns for a third edition with a new name:FoundHers.

Called the “Women’s Entrepreneurship program” for the first two editions, the program today makes its new name official by launching its call for applications to find women with a business idea. This third edition confirms the program’s importance for Mtl inc. and the Montréal entrepreneurial community at a time when only 15% of entrepreneurs in Montréal are women.

“Women are more affected by the current pandemic,” according to Liette Lamonde, Executive Director of Mtl inc. “The purpose of this program is to help women turn their ideas into action. It is even more relevant this year, when they are facing constraints that existed before the crisis and that have been exacerbated ever since.”

Starting today, and until February 12, Montréal women can apply to be part of the cohort of women entrepreneurs guided by experts from Montreal’s business community so they have everything they need to start their own business. In addition, one future woman entrepreneur will be awarded a $5000 grant at the end of the course.

“For this edition, the formula resumes in virtual mode as adopted last year,” explains Naouel Hanani, Director, Operations at Mtl inc. “The last two years allowed us to test the approach and take the pulse of the business community. This culminated in a program that will enable the selected women to shine to their full potential.”

FoundHers allows women with a business idea to be supported and guided to make their project a reality. The program breaks down into two intensive 17-week courses. The Boost Course covers 5 weeks and the Lift Course, reserved for 10 selected participants, will last up to mid-July.

The 3rd edition of FoundHers is presented by BMO, in collaboration with BDC,  Explorance and Ubisoft. To learn more, visit the program’s page.
