MONTRÉAL, September 13, 2021 – Bonjour Startup Montréal and Montréal inc. submitted a brief on September 10 as part of the consultation of the ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec on the Entrepreneurship Action Plan 2022-2027.

According to Bonjour Startup Montréal and Montréal Inc., the new Action Plan must reflect the reality of today’s business world in Quebec where different types of businesses coexist, including startups. Startups, located largely in Montreal, are important vectors of innovation for Quebec society and have become, in recent years, key players in the Quebec economy.

Startups have specificities that make them very different from other types of businesses in Quebec. Startup entrepreneurs need to be adequately supported in the ideation, start-up, and scale-up phases, with everything these phases involve. For this reason, recommandations are made in the brief under four specific sectors:

  1. Support entrepreneurs through support and financing
  2. Support startups in growth, access to international markets and the acquisition and retention of talent
  3. Increase open innovation practices and measure the evolution of our startup ecosystem
  4. Make Montreal a startup hub for all of Quebec and internationally

The organizations also hope that the new Plan will be prioritize ambition and inclusion so that all entrepreneurs, regardless of their origin, their gender, their region and their entrepreneurial project, have access to similar resources to launch and grow their business. Entrepreneurs are growing the economy and are helping make Quebec renown around the world for its innovative spirit.
