Imagine starting a food business with confidence, knowing you have thought through all the steps necessary to launch into the marketplace. In this workshop, you will learn how to find the potential in a recipe and identify what recipes might translate into a great retail product.
This workshop is the 2nd of a Foodpreneur Series. You do not need to attend the first workshop to attend this one, although it may help give a foundational understanding for this workshop.
About the Presenters:
Jennifer Andrews (M.Sc., MBA) is a marketing expert with a science background and an MBA passionate about simplifying the complex to grow scientific businesses. As CEO, Founder & Chief Marketing Strategist at FreshLeaf Marketing, Jennifer brings 13 years of marketing experience in the life sciences, including as marketing director for a natural health research and regulatory firm. She launched her consulting firm after noticing STEM-based business owners struggling with the same issue: how to communicate complicated subject matter into compelling marketing messaging. Jennifer’s specialties include marketing strategy, brand identity and messaging, and content creation to help clients stand out, get found, and gain more leads. Jennifer is also a business mentor and industry expert with Innovation Guelph, an accelerator for agri-innovation, food, clean tech, and other sectors. A strong believer in personal growth and development, she mentors recent graduates and entrepreneurs throughout Southwestern Ontario. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in biology and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in human health and nutrition from the University of Guelph, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Cara Kennedy brings over 12 years of North American business experience including: brand management, category management, product innovation, network marketing, experiential marketing, print, online and in-store advertising, influencer marketing, consumer and market research, corporate sustainability, business analytics and business plan development and strategy.
She launched her business in 2018 while attending the Institute of Holistic Nutrition with the intention of helping brands exclusively within the natural products industry. Fast-forward to today, and she’s worked with many thriving brands in the wellness space, but also have expanded her services to support small businesses with business plan development and growth strategies. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba and have spent many years in different corporate marketing and business analytic roles that have contributed to a well-rounded resume in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry. Most notable was her position as a product manager for Manitoba Harvest, the world’s largest hemp food manufacturer. While there, she assisted in managing branded food and supplement products for Costco, Whole Foods, Loblaw, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Sobeys, Amazon, Well.ca and more. When she’s not building Excel forecasts or reading consumer trends and insights, she’s wandering the aisles of a health food store and dreaming up recipes. Nothing brings her greater joy than creating nutritious and delicious (no compromise) food for her crew.
